Funerals

I am sorry for your loss but thank you for having taken the time to look at my website.

At such a difficult time, even thinking about a funeral can seem unbearable. Emotions are high and grief is intense and it can often feel so overwhelming. Whilst saying goodbye is never easy, death is a part of life and a funeral is part of the grieving process.

I am here to help you alleviate some of this stress so you can concentrate on being together as a family. If you choose me as your Celebrant I will make an appointment to visit you at a convenient time and place to talk about your needs. During this personalised meeting we will discuss your loved one and , through our conversation, I will get a real sense of the person you have lost –  what they were like, their life story, their quirks and why you loved them so much. This will help me to create a bespoke and accurate tribute, not dwelling on your loss but instead celebrating a life well lived.

I would be honoured and privileged to officiate at the ceremony, whether that be in a crematorium, cemetery or other chosen location to capture timeless memories and show just how special your loved one truly was.

In addition to conducting the funeral ceremony I can also provide an Ashes Scattering service. This can be tailored to your needs, allowing you to say your final goodbye to your loved one and help you to move into the next part of your life journey.

You can choose the location and decide on any words that you feel are right for you and your loved one. I can read a poem or prayer or simply ‘say goodbye’.  I also have connections with a kayaker in Cumbria who is able to paddle out into deep water, record the process and provide you with the What3Words exact location. They are able to travel at an extra fee to other bodies of water across the country.

The Ashes Scattering service can be used for your loved ones or much loved animals.

Scattering, above ground memorials or Interment (below ground) of ashes:

Following a cremation, you may wish to hold a ceremony for scattering or interment of the ashes.

Interment provides an opportunity to create a specific final resting place for your loved one.  The ashes will be placed below ground and a memorial of your choosing will mark the final resting place.

Above ground memorials hold ashes without the need for interment.

Scattering of ashes can be done at certain crematoria and (with permission in some cases) in other areas.

Memorial Services

It may be that the service at the crematorium or graveside is a private time of reflection for close family and friends only, and you may wish to arrange a gathering for other friends and family at a later date.  This may be a memorial service ceremony which focuses on a celebration of your loved one’s life, for example.  This could be held anywhere – such as a hotel or other venue, or even your own home or garden.   I can write a script that includes everything special and unique about that person and fits in with your wishes for this ceremony.
